Ridgeline and Mountain Crest are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2022, but likely not for long. The Riverhawks will face off against the Mustangs at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Ridgeline is coming into the contest hot, having won their last eight games.
Ridgeline is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Park City, who was ranked 20th at the time (Ridgeline was ranked 15th). The Riverhawks put the hurt on the Miners with a sharp 9-0 win on Monday. Considering the Riverhawks have won 15 matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Ripken Jensen was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 4.1 innings pitched. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Easton Hammond looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Ridgeline let Cooper Clark and Maddux Jensen run wild. Clark got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two doubles, two RBI, and one run, while Jensen went 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three hits gave Jensen a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tyson Smith, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Ridgeline always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Park City only posted an OBP of .250.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Mountain Crest's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell just short of Payson by a score of 5-4.
Mountain Crest saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brok Buttars, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Ridgeline pushed their record up to 21-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Mountain Crest, their loss dropped their record down to 14-7.
Both Ridgeline and Mountain Crest just can't seem to miss. The Riverhawks have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.2 hits per game. However, it's not like Mountain Crest struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Ridgeline beat Mountain Crest 5-2 in their previous meeting two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Riverhawks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
