Baseball Recap: Madison-Grant Has No Trouble Against Elwood

After only one run in their last match, Madison-Grant made sure to put some runs up on the board against Elwood on Wednesday. The Argylls were the clear victors by a 12-4 margin over the Panthers. The Argylls might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by eight runs or more this season.

Levi Nelson and Luke Gilman made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Nelson tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Gilman pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Nelson scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Gilman scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-5. Madison-Grant is undefeated when Nelson posts two or more runs, but 1-2 otherwise.

In other batting news, Tripp Haisley was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Andy Stanley, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Madison-Grant kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Elwood only managed four hits.

Madison-Grant has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Elwood, they dropped their record down to 1-5 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Madison-Grant will square off against Liberty Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Elwood, they will face off against Wabash at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
