DeKalb County and Warren County are an even 5-5 against one another since November of 2019, but not for long. The DeKalb County Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Warren County Pioneers & Lady Pioneers at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with eight consecutive losses apiece.
Last Monday, DeKalb County came up short against Livingston Academy and fell 43-35. While losing is never fun, DeKalb County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 138th, while Livingston Academy is ranked 41st).
Meanwhile, Warren County pushed their score all the way to 61 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 83-61 walloping at the hands of Lincoln County. Warren County was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-22.
DeKalb County has traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-16 record this season. As for Warren County, they dropped their record down to 4-22 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.
DeKalb County was able to grind out a solid win over Warren County when the teams last played back in December of 2023, winning 70-59. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Warren County's Harmoni Kennerly, who scored 15 points. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will DeKalb County still be able to contain Kennerly? There's only one way to find out.
