After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Fellowship Christian, The Athens Academy Spartans were happy to have found some success on Friday. They blew past Banks County 56-27 on the road. The result was nothing new for Athens Academy, who have now won five matchups by 29 points or more so far this season.
Leading Athens Academy to victory were Hampton Johnson and Jeremiah Wingfield. Johnson threw for 264 yards and three touchdowns on only 17 passes, while Wingfield rushed for 118 yards and two touchdowns. Noah Prior was in the mix too, providing Athens Academy with two touchdowns.
Banks County's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Aaron Scott, who rushed for 282 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 13.4 yards per carry, and Aucy Jacobs who rushed for 214 yards and two touchdowns. Scott was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 67 yards.
Athens Academy is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Banks County, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-4.
