Pleasant Ridge is 0-4 against Jefferson County North since May of 2023 but things could change on Monday. The Rams will challenge the Chargers at 4:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Monday, Pleasant Ridge got the win against Atchison County by a conclusive 15-6. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won six matches by nine runs or more so far this season.
Aubrey Gillaspie spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and five unearned) runs on nine hits.

On the hitting side, Maggie Lance was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Goodson, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Jefferson County North waltzed into their game on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the Cobras 14-2. That 12 run margin sets a new team best for the Chargers this season.
Kennadi Hernandez was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Emmarie Hernandez also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Jefferson County North was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.
The victory made it two in a row for Pleasant Ridge and bumps their season record up to 6-8. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.5 runs over those games. As for Jefferson County North, their record is now 6-14.
Monday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Pleasant Ridge has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .436. However, it's not like Jefferson County North struggles in that department as they've averaged .442. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Pleasant Ridge might still be hurting after the 22-12 defeat they got from Jefferson County North when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
