It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Eustis Panthers can now relate to. They fell just short of the Buffalo by a score of 70-68. Eustis' defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.
Eustis lost on Saturday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Anthony Hines, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Timothy Key, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds.
Even though they lost, Eustis smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as The Villages Charter only pulled down nine offensive rebounds.
The Villages Charter's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Adyn Corbin, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. Corbin is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Jared Thompson was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Eustis' defeat dropped their record down to 21-5. As for The Villages Charter, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-11 record this season.
Eustis' road trip will continue as they head out to face Discovery at 7:00 p.m. on February 15th. One thing working in Eustis' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 11 matchups. The Villages Charter is on the road again on Thursday and plays Palatka at 7:00 p.m. on February 15th. The Villages Charter knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 16 contests -- so hopefully Palatka likes a good challenge.
