The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Shorecrest Prep in their matchups with St. Petersburg Catholic: they've now lost four in a row.
Meanwhile, Northside Christian was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 32-27 to Clearwater Central Catholic. While losing is never fun, Northside Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 325th, while Clearwater Central Catholic is ranked 105th).
Shorecrest Prep dropped their record down to 1-13 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight at home. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 11.3 points per game. As for Northside Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-5.
