Aquinas (Hammond, La.) grabbed a lead in the first quarter and rode that momentum to a 28-19 win over
Pope John Paul II (Slidell, La.).
The Falcons scored seven points in the first quarter. Aquinas scored on a
Dillion Lee touchdown pass to
Kaylan Richardson.
AHS was up 14-6 at the half after taking the lead on a Lee touchdown pass to Richardson in the first quarter.
The Hammond school saw its 8-point halftime lead fall to two entering the fourth.
Lee was the top performer for the Falcons. The sophomore quarterback threw three touchdowns.
Aquinas got revenge for last year's 44-26 loss to the Jaguars with the victory.
The loss comes after Pope John Paul II defeated St. Helena Central 73-6 last week. With the win AHS extended its winning streak to four games.
In a 2A District 8 game next week Aquinas (6-3) takes on Springfield, and Pope John Paul II (3-5) will go up against Pine also in a 2A District 8 game.
