After a string of four wins, the Brandeis Broncos's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell to Lee 71-67. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Tuesday (58), Brandeis still had to take the loss.
When it comes to explaining why Brandeis lost, one person who can't be blamed is Rian Forestier. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 44 points and 20 rebounds. That was a full 65.7% of Brandeis' points, marking the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Abigail Burdette, who scored ten points.
Leading Lee to victory were Debi Hernandez and Rosanelly Pastrano. Hernandez scored 22 points along with six rebounds and five assists, while Pastrano scored 24 points along with three steals. Pastrano hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Alvarez, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds.
Brandeis' loss dropped their record down to 22-9. As for Lee, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season.
Brandeis will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Madison at 6:00 p.m. Madison will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 604th, while Brandeis is ranked 33rd). As for Lee, they will head out on the road to face off against Clark at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
