Softball Recap: Churchill Takes a Loss

Churchill dropped their record down to 16-5 on Saturday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 10-4 to the Allen Park Jaguars. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Chargers have suffered since May 28, 2024.

As for Allen Park, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games.

For Allen Park's part, Mallory Hool and Mya Brandenburg did most of the damage at the plate: Hool went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Brandenburg went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Kiley Carr, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Churchill will challenge Farmington at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Allen Park, they will square off against Anchor Bay at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday. The Tars will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Jaguars surely won't give up without a fight.
