Eau Gallie (Melbourne, Fla.) captured the lead in the fourth quarter and held on for a 23-14 victory over
Viera (Fla.) on Saturday. The Commodores /Ftg took the lead for good when they ran for a touchdown.
The Hawks pulled ahead on a
Cody Dentmon touchdown pass to
Devin Nixon, and subsequently went into halftime leading 13-0. The Commodores /Ftg took the lead for good with a touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
Despite scoring eight points in the third, Eau Gallie still trailed by five points going into the fourth quarter. But 16 points in the fourth helped EG pull out the victory.
The loss snapped Viera's five-game winning streak.
The Melbourne school entered the contest giving up 19.6 points per game this year.
The Commodores /Ftg avenged last year's 10-0 loss to Viera with the victory.
The loss comes after Viera defeated Astronaut 23-16 last week. The win was a nice bounce back for Eau Gallie, which lost to Satellite last week, 10-7. The victory snapped Eau Gallie's two-game losing streak.
