The Canton Tigers posted their biggest victory since November 21, 2023 on Thursday. They put the hurt on Highland with a sharp 69-45 win. Given Canton's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 160th, while Highland is ranked 450th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Canton to victory were Zach Sparrow and Preston Brewer. Sparrow scored 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals, while Brewer dropped a double-double on 19 points and 16 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sparrow has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaden Oliver, who scored nine points.
Canton is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for Highland, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-12.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Canton will take on Missouri Military Academy at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Missouri Military Academy is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. As for Highland, they will be playing at home against Centralia at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
