The Forge Christian Fury scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They took down Arrupe Jesuit 60-44. The victory was just what Forge Christian needed coming off of a 52-25 defeat in their prior matchup.
Forge Christian found their leader in underclassman Gabriella Geypens, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds and six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Geypens has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Finley Queen, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds.
Karen Alvarez and Atany Peter certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Alvarez scored 15 points along with seven assists and five steals, while Peter scored seven points along with ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Gisela Benavides, who scored 11 points.
Forge Christian pushed their record up to 5-5 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.3 points per game. As for Arrupe Jesuit, they have fallen quite a ways from their 17-7 record last season and are now at 3-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Forge Christian won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Thunderbolts at 5:30 p.m. on January 18th. Hopefully Manual focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 last Saturday. As for Arrupe Jesuit, they will head out on the road to square off against the Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully St. Mary's Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 33 on Wednesday.
