The Westland Cougars will stay at home for another game and welcome the Dublin Scioto Irish at 7:00 p.m. on December 18th.
Last Monday, Westland was the victim of a rough 67-45 defeat at the hands of Grandview Heights. While losing is never fun, Westland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 679th, while Grandview Heights is ranked 208th).
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Dublin Scioto ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They snuck past Worthington Kilbourne with a 50-45 victory.
Niah Smedley was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Dublin Scioto's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alec Rothe, who scored five points along with ten rebounds and seven blocks.
Westland's defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-6. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.3 points per game. As for Dublin Scioto, their win bumped their record up to 2-4.
