The Middletown Blue Raiders will face off against the Trinity Shamrocks at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Monday, Middletown narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past East Pennsboro 12-10.

Kenadee Hileman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and eight unearned) runs off nine hits. Hileman was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-5. Hileman is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Journee Stover, who scored four runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-4. Delaney Fitzpatrick was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
Middletown kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Trinity came tearing into Monday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Cougars get on the board and left with an 18-0 win. Considering the Shamrocks have won five matches by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Brianna Topper looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, Zea Sullivan was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Anna Sheaffer, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.
Middletown's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Trinity, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Middletown hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .347. However, it's not like Trinity struggles in that department as they've averaged .385. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Middletown came up short against Trinity in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 10-5. Can Middletown avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
