Sixteen players from the 2024-25 season who joined the 3,000-point club and one who went over 100 points in a game are featured in the latest update of the
MaxPreps National High School Basketball Record Book.
Nicholas Khatchikian of
Mesrobian (Pico Rivera, Calif.) scored 102 points in a January game, becoming the second player from California to hit the 100-point mark. Coincidentally, former Mesrobian player Tigran Grigorian held the previous state record with 100 points in 2003.
Khatchikian, who was the first to score 100 in a game in over 20 years, joins 18 others who have hit the century mark on the single-game scoring list. Danny Heater of Burnsville (W.Va.) holds the record with 135 points in 1960.
The lone junior to join the list,
Jason Crowe Jr. of
Inglewood (Calif.), is on track to surpass Yessoufou next year. Crowe Jr. He has 3,331 points in just three seasons.

The only other player over 3,500 career points is
Auden Slaughter of
Santa Fe (Tenn.) with 3,587 points. He ranks 67th all-time and third in Tennessee history.
The list of 3,000-point scorers grew to 296 players this year, but not all additions were from the past school year. New research identified Don Liles of
Maud (Texas) with 3,366 points from 1954 to 1958.
Not previously identified in the Texas high school records maintained by the late Bob Springer, Liles would have been the state's all-time leading scorer upon his graduation from Maud, surpassing Max Williams of Leuders-Avoca (Avoca, Texas), who graduated in 1956 with a state record 3,360 points.
