Softball Recap: Dodson's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Calvin, Dodson was happy to have turned things around on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Union Parish Farmers a 20-0 shutout. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matches by seven runs or more this season.

Courtney Mckiddy made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted over her last 13 games.

In other batting news, Dodson got a massive performance out of Zoey Goss, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs Goss has posted over her last 14 contests. Another player making a difference was Jayden Browning, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3.

Dodson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .818. They are 12-4 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Dodson moved to 14-16 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Union Parish, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-10.

Coming up, Dodson will face off against Red River at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Union Parish, they will take on Gibsland-Coleman at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
