The Sayre Redskins will square off against the Troy Trojans at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Having struggled with 13 defeats in a row, Sayre turned things around against Northeast Bradford on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Panthers, sneaking past 17-16. The Redskins' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Troy came out on top against Northeast Bradford on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive 13-run fourth inning. The Trojans were the clear victors by an 18-3 margin over the Panthers. Considering the Trojans have won six games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Reed Palmer made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Palmer was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2025.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mason Smith, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Troy's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 4-5 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Pryor Teribury, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Troy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .524. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Troy's victory bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Sayre, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-10 and their overall record up to 2-13.
Sayre suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Troy in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Will the Redskins have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
