Basketball Recap: Jasaan Garcia Key Part of a Team Effort in Pirates Win

Pittsburg hadn't done well against Freedom recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Pittsburg Pirates walked away with a 66-56 victory over the Freedom Falcons. This was a revenge game for the Pirates: when they faced off against the Falcons back in January, they had to take a 64-63 defeat.

Pittsburg's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jasaan Garcia, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 14 points and eight rebounds. That's the most points Garcia has posted since back in December of 2024. Terrance Wiley was another key player, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 11 boards.

Pittsburg's record now sits at 13-10. As for Freedom, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-15.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pittsburg will host Heritage at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Pittsburg's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five contests. As for Freedom, they will face off against Saint Mary's at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Freedom is facing Saint Mary's at the right time seeing as Saint Mary's is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
