Hume is 10-0 against Sheldon since January of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Hume Hornets will be staying on the road to face off against the Sheldon Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on February 8th. Hume will be strutting in after a win while Sheldon will be coming in after a loss.
Last Monday, Hume had just enough and edged Butler out 42-39. Given Hume's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 79th, while Butler is ranked 320th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Sheldon ended up a good deal behind Montrose on Tuesday and lost 41-26. Sheldon has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, Sheldon saw an underclassman step up: Wynsdae Connelly scored 12 points along with two steals. Connelly is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played.
Hume pushed their record up to 18-2 with that win, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 27.9 points. As for Sheldon, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Hume against Sheldon in their previous meeting back in November of 2023 as the squad secured a 61-28 victory. Does Hume have another victory up their sleeve, or will Sheldon turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
