The ROWVA/Williamsfield Cougars were the 61-56 winner over the Peoria Heights Patriots when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. ROWVA/Williamsfield took a serious blow against Peoria Heights on Tuesday, falling 64-26. ROWVA/Williamsfield was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-6.
Peoria Heights had a senior duo take command as Emily Dana scored 23 points along with five rebounds and four steals and Janessa Marie wallace scored 12 points along with seven assists and five steals. The contest was Marie wallace's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Nyaja Russell, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
ROWVA/Williamsfield bumped their record down to 4-11 with that loss, which was their sixth straight at home. As for Peoria Heights, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 12-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. ROWVA/Williamsfield will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Stark County at 7:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024. Peoria Heights won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Deer Creek-Mackinaw at 5:30 p.m. on December 20th. Deer Creek-Mackinaw will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
