The Independence Home School Lions had already won 13 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.5 points), and they went ahead and made it 14 on Thursday. They walked away with a 59-50 victory over Ozanam. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Independence Home School also won the last time the pair played back in January.
Independence Home School's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joe Young, who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Philip Cresswell, who scored 13 points.
Skylar Horn and Talan Olmstead certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Horn dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds, while Olmstead dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Horn has scored all season.
Independence Home School's win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-1. As for Ozanam, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-12.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Independence Home School won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Chesterton Academy of St. Philip Neri at 5:00 p.m. on February 9th. Independence Home School has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 198 points over their last three matches. As for Ozanam, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy at 4:30 p.m. on February 13th. Hopefully Ozanam focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Thursday.
