The McDonough Warhawks put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Lovett by a score of 75-66. Given McDonough's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while Lovett is ranked 255th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
McDonough got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Zaiden Greene out in front who went 7 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 25 points and 1 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Keenan Gray, who scored 18 points along with 7 rebounds and 5 assists.
Several Lions players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jack Rees, who scored 21 points along with 7 rebounds. Kingston Whitty was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with 7 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Lovett were working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McDonough only posted eight.
McDonough's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Lovett, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McDonough is on the road again on Friday and play against Hampton at 7:30 p.m. on December 8th. Hampton is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. As for Lovett, they will head out on the road to face off against Woodland at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
