Union Pines was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight  defeat. They were a single  point away from ending the streak, but they lost a  54-53 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lee County Yellow Jackets. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup  62-60  back in December of 2024.
 Several Vikings players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was   Jaylen Kyle, who  went 8 for 13  on his way to 21 points and six  boards. Another player making a difference was  Kingsley Donaldson, who  went 7 of 10  en route to 16  points.
 Lee County got their  victory on the backs of several key players, but it was  Jayden Hill out in front who  went 5 for 11  on his way to 12 points in addition to six  rebounds and six  steals. That's the most  boards  Hill has posted since back in February of 2024.  Ronnie Hooker was another key player,  going 5 of 10  en route to 14  points and five  rebounds.
Union Pines' loss dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Lee County, the  win was  the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-9.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Union Pines will face off against Hoke County at 7:30  p.m.  on Friday. Union Pines is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 64.6  points per game  this season. As for Lee County, they will challenge Richmond at 7:30  p.m.  on Friday. Richmond knows how to get  points on the board -- the  team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight matches -- so hopefully Lee County likes a good challenge.
