The Pyramid Lake Lakers suffered their biggest defeat since December 7, 2023 on Tuesday. They were dealt a 72-38 defeat at the hands of Smith Valley. Pyramid Lake was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Smith Valley apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Despite the loss, Pyramid Lake still got an impressive performance from Warren Christy, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Terrell Twohearts was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Pyramid Lake's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Smith Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.
Pyramid Lake will head out on the road to face off against Mineral County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (Mineral County is ranked 67th, while Pyramid Lake is ranked 76th). As for Smith Valley, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Virginia City at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. Virginia City will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
