The Cameron Comets will head out to square off against the Spooner Rails at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Cameron is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10 runs per game this season.
Cameron is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Stratford just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Saturday. They came up short against the Tigers, falling 18-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Comets have suffered since April 21st.
Chloe Larson made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Rayna Schroeder, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, Spooner waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Oredockers a 22-0 shutout. The Rails might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by seven runs or more this season.
Annalie Lindgren made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs, seven RBI, and two stolen bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Spooner got a massive performance out of Layla Thompson, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with five stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Thompson is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Norah Focht, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
Spooner always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .732. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Spooner's record now sits at 13-1. As for Cameron, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-6-1.
Cameron suffered a grim 8-1 defeat to Spooner when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Can the Comets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
