Adding to the longest winning streak in 1A District 2 this week, Holy Cross beat Caverna 50-14. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Cougars.
Holy Cross led the league in scoring this week after putting up 50 points on the Colonels.
Caverna's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Colonels feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. ANTHONY PHILLIPS has thrown for 1,484 yards and 9 touchdowns this season, while TREVOR STEPHENS has 41 catches for 713 yards. PHILLIPS also leads the league in rushing with 85 yards.
The top two teams in 1A District 2 will face off this week when first place Bethlehem takes on second place Holy Cross.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Todd Crumbacker's team takes on Bethlehem. The Cougars have allowed 141 points this season, while the Eagles/Banshees have given up 130.
Bethlehem made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 9,402 from 9,950. The improvement was largely due to a 35-25 victory over Kentucky Country Day last week.
