Valencia is 1-9 against St. Pius X since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Jaguars will host the Sartans at 6:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Valencia was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Valley on Tuesday. The Jaguars blew past the Vikings 21-14.
Sophia Willis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and ten unearned) runs on ten hits.

At the plate, Cambria Garley was a standout: she went a perfect 5-for-5 with five runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those five hits gave her a new career-high. Adrianna Berni was another key player, getting on base in five of her six plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Pius X). They put the hurt on Grants with a sharp 20-3 victory on Tuesday. The win was familiar territory for the Sartans, who have now won five games in a row.
Dominique Morett made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs.
In other batting news, St. Pius X got a massive performance out of Jordan Chavez, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Another player making a difference was Aubri Hooee, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.
St. Pius X was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .550. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in eight consecutive matches.
Valencia's victory ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-13. As for St. Pius X, their win bumped their record up to 11-12.
