On Friday, the Coronado Cougars faced the Foothill Falcons in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Coronado walked away with a 59-47 victory over Foothill. The victory was nothing new for Coronado as they're now sitting on three straight.
Coronado's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lantz Stephenson, who scored 19 points. Stephenson hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. Tee Bartlett was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Foothill still got an impressive performance from Zak Abdalla, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Abdalla is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Shawn Salazar, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Coronado pushed their record up to 12-8 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.7 points per game. As for Foothill, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-8.
