Division I recap Nov. 7, 2012
La Salle Academy extended the longest winning streak in Division I this week by beating Cranston East, 41-13. This was the team's seventh consecutive win.
Portsmouth took down East Providence 46-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Chavous Bobby threw for 149 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 280 yards in the win.
The Patriots' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Travis O'Brien helped Portsmouth's passing attack out by catching one ball for 54 yards.
Sewall Matthew was the best wideout in the league this week as Portsmouth topped the Townies. Matthew tallied five receptions for 63 yards.
Portsmouth's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Patriots feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Bobby has thrown for 1806 yards and 18 touchdowns this season, while Matt Greenman has 32 catches for 767 yards. Bobby also leads the league in rushing with 1018 yards.
The marquee game in Division I this week will be the clash between Barrington and Bishop Hendricken. The Eagles comes into the matchup ranked 15th in the state, while the Hawks ranks third.
Ryan Moniz's team's Bobby is within 194 passing yards of surpassing 2,000 on the season coming into this week's game against Barrington.
Josh Morris of the La Salle Academy is only 78 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 119 carries Morris has accumulated 922 yard this year.
The Patriots led the league in scoring this week after putting up 46 points on East Providence. Bobby in the win.
