Beaver is a perfect 4-0 against San Juan since May of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Beavers will take on the Broncos at 4:30 p.m. Beaver is coming into the game hot, having won their last 12 games.
Beaver is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over North Sevier. The result was nothing new for the Beavers, who have now won 16 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Davin Orton and Raider Blomquist made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Orton pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Blomquist pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Orton has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. At bat, Orton went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI, while Blomquist went 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI.
In other batting news, Beckham Beaumont was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Sam Smith was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Beaver kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, San Juan hadn't done well against South Sevier recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Broncos came out on top against the Rams by a score of 6-2.
Kreed Herring spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up 13 Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because San Juan is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-8 otherwise.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Nache Young, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has become a key player for San Juan: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-8 otherwise.
Beaver's win bumped their record up to 23-2. As for San Juan, their victory bumped their record up to 14-8.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Beaver has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .487. However, it's not like San Juan struggles in that department as they've averaged .498. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Beaver's way against San Juan when the teams last played back in March, as Beaver made off with a 16-8 win. Will the Beavers repeat their success, or do the Broncos have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
