For the second straight game, Blackfoot will face off against Bonneville. The Broncos will square off against the Bees at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Blackfoot is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.5 runs per game this season.
Blackfoot's last matchup with Bonneville could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's match on Wednesday. The Broncos came up short against the Bees, falling 21-4. The Broncos have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
For Bonneville's part, Coltan Spagnuolo made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Spagnuolo has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs and four RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other pitching news, Jackson Ropp looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Tyson Christensen was incredible, scoring four runs while going 3-for-4. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Gavin Hernandez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI.
Bonneville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .660. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Blackfoot only posted an OBP of .385.
The victory was the ninth in a row for Bonneville, bringing their record up to 10-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Blackfoot, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Blackfoot has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .521. However, it's not like Bonneville struggles in that department as they've averaged .527. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
