The Blue Island Eisenhower Cardinals will venture away from home to take on the Agricultural Science Cyclones at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Blue Island Eisenhower will be strutting in after a victory while Agricultural Science will be coming in after a defeat.
Blue Island Eisenhower had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 23-run drubbing they dealt Thornridge on Monday. Blue Island Eisenhower's pitchers stepped up to hand Thornridge a 23-0 shutout.
Adam Ford and Richard Cabral were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Ford pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Cabral tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At the plate, Ford scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2, while Cabral went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Adriel Castro was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Soto, who scored three runs while going 1-for-1.
Meanwhile, Agricultural Science lost 13-3 to Westinghouse on Monday. The loss was the Cyclones' first of the season.
Agricultural Science saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Mooney, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.
Having lost for the first time this season, Agricultural Science fell to 2-1-1. As for Blue Island Eisenhower, their win ended a 17-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-1.
Agricultural Science's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Blue Island Eisenhower hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .394. It's a different story for Agricultural Science, though, as they've only averaged .169. Will they be able to contain Blue Island Eisenhower's hitters?
