String Theory will venture away from home to challenge Abington Friends at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
String Theory's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Abraham Lincoln with a sharp 15-0 win. That looming 15-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for String Theory yet this season.
Annamae Uhl was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season.
In other batting news, Danica Divincenzo was a standout: she scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Savannah Iamurri was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
String Theory was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Abington Friends hadn't done well against Germantown Friends recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Abington Friends was the clear victor by a 12-4 margin over Germantown Friends. Abington Friends' victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Lorelai Stirling spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks.
On the hitting side, Abington Friends let Gabriela Puntel and Calysta Salas run wild. Puntel went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple, while Salas scored a run and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Elise Graber, who went 4-for-5 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Abington Friends pushed their record up to 5-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for String Theory, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. String Theory has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 10.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Abington Friends struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
String Theory came out on top in a nail-biter against Abington Friends in their previous matchup back in April of 2023, sneaking past 6-4. Does String Theory have another victory up their sleeve, or will Abington Friends turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
