The New Prairie Cougars pushed their score all the way to 55 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 67-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of East Noble. New Prairie has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.
New Prairie's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jolie Johns, who scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Jayden Flagg, who scored 16 points along with seven assists.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead East Noble to victory, but perhaps none more so than Averi Amstutz, who scored 16 points along with five steals. Bailea Bortner was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with five rebounds.
New Prairie's loss dropped their record down to 13-3. As for East Noble, their victory bumped their record up to 9-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. New Prairie will take on Penn at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Indiana (Penn is ranked 80th, while New Prairie is ranked 75th). East Noble and Angola will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 3rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Angola focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 last Tuesday.
