After a string of four wins, the Durand Railroaders's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 53-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ovid-Elsie. Durand lost against Ovid-Elsie in their previous head to head back in February of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 49-47 score last time.
Despite the defeat, Durand saw an underclassman step up: Darius Aldrich scored ten points along with eight rebounds. Those eight rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Joslin, who scored 11 points.
Durand's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-3. As for Ovid-Elsie, their win bumped their record up to an identical 5-3.
Durand will be playing in front of their home fans against Lakeville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lakeville is hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses. As for Ovid-Elsie, they will head out on the road to face off against Mt. Morris at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
