Even though the East Mecklenburg Eagles have not done well against the Porter Ridge Pirates recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. East Mecklenburg claimed a resounding 88-47 victory over Porter Ridge on the road. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 37-14.
East Mecklenburg's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ahmari Hicks, who went 8 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 33 points and 1 assists. That makes it four consecutive games in which Hicks has scored at least 25% of East Mecklenburg's points. Bryson Heath was another key contributor, scoring 21 points along with 5 assists and 3 steals.
Despite the loss, Porter Ridge had strong showings from Samaj Long, who scored 13 points, and Dennis Kurucu , who scored 13 points along with 5 rebounds.
East Mecklenburg's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Porter Ridge, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Mecklenburg will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Sun Valley at 7:30 p.m. on December 1st. Hopefully Sun Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday. As for Porter Ridge, they will head out on the road to face off against Lincoln Charter at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lincoln Charter is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 67 points per game.
