The Mendon Unity Mustangs will challenge the Brown County Hornets at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Mendon Unity is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.2 runs per game this season.

Mendon Unity had been on a three-game streak of scoring at least ten runs, but Beardstown put an end to it on Tuesday. The Mustangs fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 3-2. The matchup marked the Mustangs' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Sawyer Allen was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. Allen was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Allen wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Adler Gray, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Brown County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 9-5 to Calhoun.

Brown County now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Mendon Unity, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 4-2 record.

Mendon Unity beat Brown County 4-1 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hornets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
