Basketball Recap: Jellico Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

If Jellico was feeling good fresh off their 69-44 takedown of Rockwood last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Jellico Blue Devils fell just short of the Wartburg Central Bulldogs by a score of 64-61 on Thursday. The Blue Devils were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Despite the loss, Jellico still got an impressive performance from Trey Vann, who dropped a double-double on 30 points and 11 rebounds. Vann's evening made it 12 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Rose, who posted eight points and ten boards.

Even though they lost, Jellico smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive matchups.

Jellico's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-9. As for Wartburg Central, they pushed their record up to 7-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Jellico has already played their next contest (against Sunbright), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Wartburg Central will host Oakdale at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
