The Kiowa Indians can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They really took it to Deer Trail for the full four quarters, racking up a 58-20 win on the road. Kiowa's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
It was another big night for Paulino Lupercio, who scored 25 points. Those 25 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Vicente Bolivar, who scored 13 points.
Deer Trail's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chauncy Gudenkauf, who scored six points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gudenkauf has scored all season.
Kiowa's victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-5. As for Deer Trail, they bumped their record down to 1-8 with that loss, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kiowa's road trip will continue as they head out to face Colorado Springs School at 7:30 p.m. on January 18th. As for Deer Trail, they will face off against Elbert at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
