Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Aucilla Christian

Aucilla Christian won against Port St. Joe last Saturday with 12 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. Aucilla Christian beat Brookwood by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 12-1. Aucilla Christian might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by nine runs or more this season.

Shaw Lundy and Cooper Wiles made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Lundy pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Wiles pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Lundy has become a key player for Aucilla Christian: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one hit, but 1-2 otherwise. At the plate, Lundy scored a run while going 1-for-4, while Wiles scored three runs while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs Wiles has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Ben Gamalero and Dalton Demott did most of the damage at the plate: Gamalero scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Demott scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. What's more, Demott posted two hits, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Ethan Bass was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI.

Aucilla Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win was the third in a row for Aucilla Christian, bringing their record for this year to 4-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs over those games. As for Brookwood, they dropped their record down to 0-4 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Aucilla Christian will face off against St. John Paul II at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Brookwood, they will challenge Wakulla Christian School at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Wakulla Christian School will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Brookwood surely won't give up without a fight.
