Comstock Park hasn't had much luck against Sparta recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Panthers will venture away from home to take on the Spartans at 1:45 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Comstock Park is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by an 18-8 margin over Holland on Tuesday.
Taylor Patin spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and four unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks. As a matter of fact, that's the most runs she has scored all season.

On the hitting side, Comstock Park let Lilly Wollen and Megan Pefley run wild. Wollen went 2-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base, while Pefley went 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Pefley is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Abby Parker was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Comstock Park was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .486. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Sparta, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They put the hurt on Catholic Central with a sharp 9-1 win on Tuesday. Considering the Spartans have won 11 matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Taliya Dauser spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 12 Ks.
At the plate, Jurnee Ross was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ali Crum, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Sparta has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Comstock Park, their win ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-12.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Comstock Park hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .405. However, it's not like Sparta struggles in that department as they've averaged .338. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Comstock Park might still be hurting after the 18-6 defeat they got from Sparta when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
