Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wilcox Academy). They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Escambia Academy Cougars on Tuesday. Winning may never get old, but the Wildcats sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Steele Swanner was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Austin Samples was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.
