The La Jolla Vikings will take on the Del Norte Nighthawks at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. La Jolla is coming into the contest hot, having won their last eight games.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only La Jolla walked away with it. They really took it to the Broncos for the full four quarters, racking up a 42-14 victory on the road. La Jolla might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won five matchups by 22 points or more this season.
Jackson Diehl was his usual excellent self, rushing for 131 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries, while also throwing for 58 yards and two touchdowns. Diehl hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for five straight games. Aidan Mcgill also helped out as he racked up 148 rushing yards.
La Jolla's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Sawyer Moseley was especially locked on to Rancho Bernardo's QB and sacked him twice.
Meanwhile, Del Norte had just enough and edged Point Loma out 9-7 on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Del Norte.
Special teams was responsible for all of the team's points. All those points came courtesy of Trey Coleman: he added nine points with three field goals.
The last time La Jolla lost on the road was back back in September. Having now won five straight away games, they've pushed their record up to 10-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.6 points per game. As for Del Norte, their win bumped their record up to 10-2.
La Jolla beat Del Norte 27-20 in their previous meeting back in September of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for La Jolla since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
