It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Greenfield-Central can now relate to. They took  an  83-76 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mt. Vernon Marauders on Saturday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game  last Friday (60), the Cougars still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, Greenfield-Central still got an impressive performance from   Braylon Mullins, who  dropped  a double-double with 38 points and ten  boards. That was a full 50% of Greenfield-Central's points, marking the third time in a row  Mullins has  posted  more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of  Dallas Freeman, who  went 5-for-6  to rack up 15  points and six  rebounds.

 Even though they lost, Greenfield-Central was working as a unit and  finished the game with 24  assists. That's the most  assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.
 It was another big night for  Luke Ertel, who  dropped  a double-double with 36 points and ten  boards for Mt. Vernon. That makes it nine consecutive games in which  Ertel has scored at least a third of Mt. Vernon's points. Another player making a difference was  Ryker Baer, who  scored 11  points and six  assists.
With the  loss, Greenfield-Central broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 23-4. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 31 points. As for Mt. Vernon, they have  been performing  incredibly well recently as they've  won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record  this season.
 Greenfield-Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mt. Vernon, they will take on Brownsburg at 1:00  p.m.  on Saturday. Mt. Vernon has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
