Kaydon Evans made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
In other batting news, Springfield let Hudson Gourley and Gunner Mackey run wild. Gourley got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Mackey went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most runs Gourley has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Grady Mundell, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Wiley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Eads.
Grant Mauch made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Wiley now has a losing record of 7-8-1. As for Springfield, their victory bumped their record up to 3-6.
