The Avalon Black Knights will venture away from home to challenge the Landon Bears at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Monday, Avalon earned a 9-5 win over Georgetown Day. The victory continues a trend for the Black Knights in their matchups with the Mighty Hoppers: they've now won four in a row.
Evan Stepanik 1 looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He is becoming a predictor of Avalon's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 2-1 (and 3-11 when he doesn't).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Javeth Carrion, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Judah Knight, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
Meanwhile, Landon had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 13-4 margin over the Maroon. Considering the Bears have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Landon also got a great performance from Bo White as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over six innings pitched. White has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Ben Pollack was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Fred Malek, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.
Landon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Landon pushed their record up to 15-6 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Avalon, their record now sits at 5-12.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Avalon has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Landon struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Avalon came up short against Landon when the teams last played back in April of 2024, falling 8-4. Can the Black Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
