This season hasn't been kind to The East Henderson Eagles, who are still winless after their tenth game. They were dealt a 57-30 defeat at the hands of Smoky Mountain on Friday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for East Henderson in their matchups with Smoky Mountain: they've now lost nine in a row.
When it comes to explaining why East Henderson lost, one person who can't be blamed is James Robinson. Despite the final result, he picked up 130 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also punched in three touchdowns on the ground.
Smoky Mountain got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Isaiah McNeely out in front who rushed for 170 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 9.4 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayden Johnson, who rushed for 202 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries.
East Henderson's loss was their ninth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-10. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 11.2 points per game. As for Smoky Mountain, their victory bumped their record up to 4-6.
East Henderson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Smoky Mountain will head out on the road to face off against Kings Mountain at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Kings Mountain presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Smoky Mountain in North Carolina (Kings Mountain is ranked 24th, while Smoky Mountain is ranked 180th).
