Pioneer had a senior duo take command as Amiri Resendiz threw for 88 yards and three touchdowns on perfect 6-for-6 passing and Adrian Lopez rushed for 108 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries. Those 108 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Lopez. Damian Salguero handled things on the ground, rushing for 87 yards.
Savanna's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Pioneer, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Friday's game might be decided in the on the ground. Savanna has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 190.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Pioneer struggles in that department as they've been averaging 161. It's looking like Friday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.
