I Section V recap November 5, 2013
Pinnacle extended the longest winning streak in I Section V this week by beating Boulder Creek, 38-21. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
Pinnacle took down the Jaguars 38-21 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Ryan Parenteau made the biggest impact on defense this week as Boulder Creek lost to Dana Zupke's team. The 6-foot-2 junior grabbed 1 interception.
Dalton Sneed threw for 400 yards and 6 touchdowns. He was 27-32 with 0 interceptions.
Zach Miller was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 118 yards on 19 carries as Mountain Ridge lost to Mountain Ridge. Teammate Dexter Horvath added to the ground attack by rushing for 100 yards.
On the heels of Sneed and Luke Quinn, Horizon has had great success on offense. Sneed leads the league in passing with 3,436 yards, while Quinn has rushed for 1,009 yards this season. The Rattlers' O'Georgia leads the league in receiving yards with 890 on 65 catches.
The Pioneers' Brian Lewerke is within 7 passing yards of surpassing 2,000 on the season coming into this week's game against Mountain View. Accruing a total of 23 touchdowns this year, Lewerke has thrown for 1,993 yards with 5 interceptions.
Pinnacle's Josh Hoekstra needs only 65 yards against the Toros next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 143 carries Hoekstra has accumulated 935 yard this year.
The Mountain Lions led the league in scoring this week by notching 50 points on North Canyon. Horvath threw for 42 yards and 1 touchdown and ran for 100 yards during the win.
